1970s Fashion Tips And Ideas For The Retro Minded Person

Monday, February 20th, 2012

By 1970 women chose who they wished to be and if they felt like wearing a short mini skirt one day and a maxi dress, midi skirt or hot pants the day after – that’s what they went and did.

this video

For eveningwear girls frequently wore full length maxi dresses, evening trousers or glamorous halter neck catsuits. Some of the dresses oozed Motown glamour, others less so.

Left – Two younger women in their early twenties on holiday in the Canary Islands c1972. The short check flared skirt was very fashionable, as was the empire kind of the diamond check pattern mini dress. Right – Halter neck catsuit pattern of 1971. Exotic and tropical prints were a reflection of designers gaining inspiration from overseas travel destinations.

For evening in the early seventies, either straight or flared Empire line dresses with a sequined fabric bodice and exotic sleeves were the style for a dressy occasion. Picture of office girls wearing short mini dresses. Fashion history and costume history of the 1970s.

One often worn style was the Gramps dress with a high neck. Often the stand neck was pie-crust frilled, or lace trimmed. Often they were made of a floral print design in a warm brushed fabric or viscose rayon crepe which draped and gathered well into empire line styles.

Right – Typical short and mini dresses worn at an office party in 1972 / three. At the front a young girl wears a long floral grandma dress that covers her knees.

Another hugely successful evening form of the 1970s was the halter neck dress, either maxi or above knee.

At a disco, 1970s girls might don hot pants. In opposition to the exhibit all mini, a girl would suddenly confound men by completely covering her legs and retort that mini dresses were an exploitation, rather than a liberation of ladies.

Soil Pollution Is Equally As Terrible As Air Pollution

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

There’s a good deal of talk about air pollution and how it is damaging our planet, but not a lot of talk about soil pollution. Although many people are not informed about soil pollution, it is something that we should really be worried about. It’s much harder to detect since it occurs under ground and is not so easy to see. There are tests which can be run to show you if the soil is healthy enough to be used.

Polluted water could seep into the soil making the soil contaminated. When this occurs the soil becomes less productive as the plants, flowers or trees do not grow as well. Many of the foods we actually eat have been affected by pollution in the soil and are usually not very good to eat. Furthermore, without healthy plants, flowers and trees growing around us, air pollution is much worse, because they eliminate carbon monoxide from the air. The majority of the soil pollution are caused by neglectfulness and blunders we humans have made. Chemical compounds are held in tanks and installed underground which ends up seeping and getting into the soil. As a result, lots of plants stop growing and the area simply becomes dead with no life to be found.

Landfills is another example of ways pollutants get into the soil. For some time, waste would be dumped with wild abandon and no concern for the possible health implications. The water would pick up the various chemicals from the surface and soak into the soil. The various chemicals then fall into underground water tables or rivers and start scattering across a region. Nowadays, a lot of modern landfills are made to prevent chemicals from seeping into the ground and limiting certain garbage from being dumped there.

Pesticides have been sprayed on the land for quite some time, which has also brought about a whole lot of damage to the soil. There are lots of organizations that are trying to convince the government to take measures to safeguard the soil. But just lately, many farmers are going organic and government has imposed stringent guidelines for certain pesticides. A number of producers want to change by doing things like making use of biodegradable materials in their products. The nation mostly with serious problem is America. This has come about with the high level of development, in addition to a practically complete disregard for the environment.

With more education, everyone is starting to be aware of soil pollution, and some things are being done about it. There have been programs showing up all over the United States to address and remedy the soil pollution problem. As men and women start to do more organic gardening and are being more mindful about their health, there is a very good chance that the problem with pollution in our soil can be fixed.

Tips And Strategies For Starting Your First Blog – Quick Start

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

welbeck group

More times than not, Internet Marketers get their start online by doing a little blogging. It is inevitable that new Internet Marketers will not succeed when they first start trying to make money online. This usually has to do with their lack of blogging skills. Blogging is not as simple as it looks, which is why most people fail at it. How hard can it be, after all? You simply set up a free site, write a few posts and then make money! Correct? No it doesn’t. It really isn’t that easy to set up a blog and make cash. Really it isn’t! In an attempt to help you succeed, or at least have an easier time online, we wrote this article outlining things you need to avoid doing.

You need to strike a balance with your social media. Social media is a great way to help promote your blog and your business efforts. A simple but effective way to communicate with friends, family, and also clientele. Social media can also waste your time as well. As an example, you may spend a large portion of your day communicating with people, yet never building your blogs. By setting up a dedicated amount of time each day to socially interact, you can schedule time to work on your blogs. This way you take care of your social media needs and don’t have to worry about accidentally wasting your whole day every day. Remember the 80/20 rule. What this 80/20 rule conveys is that 20% of your efforts are actually responsible for 80% of the things that you accomplish throughout the week. In regard to Internet Marketing, the 80/20 Rule applies to it just as it does to economics, banking, and many other social issues. So think hard about where you want to put your effort. Instead of dividing your efforts, focus on a few things. Instead of focusing on many things that may not amount to any type of result, the one or two things that have your concentrated efforts will manifest the most profits and results.

First of all, all sound businesses have something they follow which is much like a particular way of doing business. Most people learn about what they can do, and then they just decide on what appeals to them. Look for a revenue generating model that works well with what you are doing on your blog. So you know that this forms the basis for what you will do. The model will allow you to see what you are doing and what you need to do to generate income. As you probably can guess, newbie bloggers often overlook many meaningful aspects of Internet Marketing. This article has presented many of these topics, and doing your own research, you will find more things to learn. After you have your own blog, you will be on your way to online success. You just need to concentrate, work hard and take care not to make any major mistakes. No worries! It is not as bad as it sounds.

Uppingham School

The central element in the life of Uppingham School is the classroom curriculum, but, unlike many other schools, Uppingham focuses unashamedly on the “total curriculum”.

This is our term for the total educational experience of being a pupil at a genuinely seven-day-a-week boarding school. Our goal has been, for at least a century and a half, to focus upon the development of the “whole person”
