Being Healthy and Fit Isn’t Difficult
January 27th, 2012Are you being bombarded with the message that you should be healthier? We see and hear messages that tell us that we need to be more physically fit. Wherever you look, whether it’s magazines, books, or even billboards, they are all saying the same thing: shape up! Have a better diet! These advertisements are often placed by diners and restaurants promoting their "lighter" menus. The bottom line is that most consumers are confused about what they really need to do in order to adopt that healthy lifestyle. If you aren’t sure what to do to stay healthy, keep reading!
You already know the importance of exercising. But don’t be one of those people who think that they need to do excruciating workouts every day. That’s just nonsense. The fact is that your muscles need time to rest and recuperate after your workouts if you hope for them to grow stronger. It is the healing and building back up that makes muscles stronger, not the tearing them down through exercise.
You would do well to workout hard for a single day and then follow that with an easy workout. For instance, do a full body workout on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You can then go easier on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by going for a brisk walk or by doing some pushups or pull-ups.
Sleep is another important ingredient. We are pushing our bodies to do more and more in an average day. This makes us stay up later in the evening. Then the mornings begin coming earlier and earlier. The end result is that we’re not getting the rest we need so desperately. It is while we are sleeping that our bodies repair themselves from the stress of the day before. Your body recharges its batteries while you sleep. For better health, eight hours of sleep per night is needed for the average adult. Try it out for a couple of weeks and pay attention to how much better you feel when you get the proper amount of rest each night.
Add time to for relaxation into your daily schedule. Sleep is not necessary or required for this step. This is important time you need in order to de-stress. For some people it’s time spent watching television. A nice relaxing walk is another great idea. You could take a long hot soak in the tub or read a chapter in a book. If you aren’t spending some time each day getting rid of stress it can lead to huge problems for your health. You can of course accomplish this in many ways. You can still live a healthy lifestyle without putting yourself through the ringer or depriving yourself of the things you love. You can work out and eat well without feeling even the tiniest bit inconvenienced. Choose to live the way you want your body to feel to get healthy and fit. Use your brain, make better choices Get off your butt and move. From this point staying healthy is easy.
